#HEYGRRRLFRENNNS HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope everybody had an amazing, super fun, and safe time bringing in the New Year last night!! I am definitely looking forward to making up for the lack of beauty sleep I got trying to stay up until midnight. Spoiler alert: I barely made it, but I survived staying up past my bed time! t’s officially the first day of 2025, and I’m already thinking about how I want to show up this year. This year, I’ve decided to reframe the whole “New Year, New Me” idea. Instead of scribbling down a list of resolutions that feel like a stranger wrote them, I’m making it about stepping fully into the grrrl I’ve always been. You know, the one who’s been there all along but sometimes got buried under self-doubt, people-pleasing, or the pressure to fit into other people’s expectations. This shift isn’t about becoming someone else; it’s about unapologetically showing up as the real me—the grrrl who has dreams, quirks, and maybe a little bit of chaos, but who is entirely worth embracing.
As we kick off this new year, I’ve been reflecting on how resolutions often feel like a rejection letter to our current selves. We’ve all seen it: the “New Year, New Me” posts promising overnight transformations that look like a montage from a rom-com. But let’s be real—change doesn’t work like that, and it’s exhausting to chase an unattainable version of yourself that’s more about pleasing others than honoring who you really are. Instead, I’m embracing the mantra “New Year, Same Grrrl.” Resolutions should feel like a love letter to your future self, written with compassion and grounded in your truth. It’s about connecting to a higher version of you, not chasing a Pinterest-perfect persona that was never meant to fit. If you’ve ever felt like resolutions are more like rules than reflections, then grrrlfren, this one’s for you. Let’s dive into how we can make this year’s resolutions about showing up as our truest selves and building the life we’ve always deserved.

No Time To Waste
This year, it’s all about taking back control of how you spend your precious hours. Time is the one resource you can’t get more of, so why give it away to things that don’t serve you or align with your goals? We’re often told that being busy is a badge of honor, but being busy for the sake of it just leads to #GrrrlBossBurnout. Owning your time means letting go of the pressure to fill every moment with productivity and instead focusing on the things that truly matter. Whether it’s declining plans you don’t actually want to attend, or setting boundaries around when and how you engage with work or social media, owning your time is an act of radical self-care. Of course, reclaiming your time doesn’t mean abandoning your responsibilities. It’s about recognizing that when you’re running on empty, you’re not much use to anyone else. By prioritizing yourself, you’re able to show up as the best version of you for the people and things that truly matter. Boundaries are a big part of this process. It’s okay to say no to something that doesn’t serve you, even if it’s a family obligation or a work request that feels overwhelming. “No” is a complete sentence, grrrlies, and it’s one that will free you up to say yes to the things that bring you joy. Remember, prioritizing yourself doesn’t mean neglecting others; it means showing up as the best version of yourself for the people and things that matter most. Time is power and this year it’s all yours!

Get Glowing Grrrl
We’ve all heard about the “glow up”, aka the dramatic transformation that makes heads turn and leaves people wondering what your secret is. But let’s get one thing straight: a real glow up isn’t just about how you look; it’s about how you feel when you show up as your authentic self. This year, instead of chasing external validation, focus on the inner work that makes you shine brighter than ever. The kind of glow up we’re talking about doesn’t require a new wardrobe or a crash diet. Even though a shopping spree does sound nice! Ka-CHING! Real glow-ups are about finally letting your real self take center stage. What does that look like? Maybe it’s wearing the bold lipstick you’ve always admired on others but never dared to try. Or perhaps it’s raising your hand in meetings because your ideas deserve to be heard. It’s about stepping into spaces as the grrrl who isn’t afraid to take up room—not in a performative way, but in a way that feels right to you. This kind of glow up isn’t about perfection; it’s about progress. It’s about shedding the layers of self-doubt and embracing the parts of you that you used to hide. And don’t let setbacks dim your light. Growth is messy and nonlinear! Meaning, it’s not always cute, but it’s always worth it. The key is to keep showing up, even when it feels hard or awkward.

Better Than The Hype
The secret to lasting change isn’t flashy declarations or unattainable goals. It’s the small, consistent habits that slowly but surely build the life you want. This year, let’s ditch the all-or-nothing mindset and focus on progress over perfection. Resolutions tend to fail when they’re driven by hype, with grandiose expectations that don’t align with the reality of our daily lives. Instead, think of your goals as seeds you’re planting. They don’t sprout overnight, but with care and patience, they grow into something beautiful. Start by scaling your goals down to bite-sized steps that feel manageable. Want to run a marathon? Begin with walking a mile, or picking out a cute outfit. Fashion forward! Dreaming of writing a novel? Commit to 15 minutes of writing each day. These small actions may not feel like much in the moment, but over time, they create momentum. It’s not about doing everything at once; it’s about showing up consistently, even when you don’t feel like it. Remember, it’s the habits you build in the quiet, unglamorous moments that lead to the big wins. Another key to building habits is creating systems that make it easier to stick with them. If your goal is to exercise more, lay out your workout clothes the night before. If you want to eat healthier, prep snacks in advance so you’re not tempted by convenience. Habits thrive when you remove friction and set yourself up for success. Think of these small adjustments as love notes to your future self.

This year isn’t about proving anything to anyone else—it’s about proving to yourself that you are capable of the love, care, and growth you deserve. The resolutions you choose, the boundaries you set, and the habits you build are all ways to honor the grrrl you already are. You’re not starting from scratch; you’re starting from experience, with all the lessons, wins, and even the missteps that have brought you to this point. Let that be your foundation. As you step into 2025, let yourself be guided by intention, not pressure. Think of the changes you’re making as acts of self-love, not self-punishment. Whether you’re reclaiming your time, glowing up, or building habits, remember that every step you take—no matter how small—is a victory. And on the hard days, when progress feels slow or invisible, remind yourself that showing up for yourself is the ultimate goal. Building habits isn’t about never messing up. Life happens, and sometimes, you’ll miss a day or take a step back. That’s OKAY! What matters is that you keep coming back to your goals with compassion and determination. Perfection isn’t the goal—progress is. Celebrate every small win along the way because those wins are proof that you’re moving forward. So, this year, let’s leave the hype behind and focus on the habits that help us grow. The grrrl you’re becoming isn’t built in a day, but she’s worth the work, one small step at a time. Now go and be great, you lil grrrly pop! TTYL!
