HEY GRRRLFREEEENNNN! We are all gathered here again today for another week of listening to me yap on the internet about achieving your greatest and highest self, but is anyone still confused about what that means exactly? Don’t worry, I never really explained it, but I’ve also never had a blog before soo we are all learning what to do together! I can’t tell you how happy it makes my little heart that you’ve signed up to restart your radical self-care journey with me, but now it’s time to get clear on where the heck you are going! Think of it this way, how can you go somewhere without a destination? How can you make plans if you don’t have a goal? How can you lose if you’re already chose? Like?? Well, allow this week’s blog post to be your guide! Your greatest and highest good is the healthiest, happiest, most whole version of yourself, and each and every one of you grrrls deserves to feel this way. If you have absolutely no clue what this looks like, don’t worry because I am here to help! This week, I would like to discuss some realistic ways for the grrrlies to visualize what their greatest and highest life looks like so we can begin the journey to becoming your best self.
Keep The Focus On You
You know those moments when the world goes quiet, and your brain is finally free to day dream about literally anything it wants to? In those moments, it feels like anything is possible. Dessert has zero calories, your crush is madly in love with you, and everything in Sephora is free! Hey, a grrrrl could get used to this! You’re able to do this because in those small moments, there is nothing distracting you or demanding your attention and you are able to focus on more important things, LIKE YOURSELF! Chances are you already have an idea of how you wish your life could be better, but if the picture is still a little fuzzy or completely out of focus, the first step to visualizing what your greatest and highest self looks like is to create more of these moments where your mind can reach a meditative state. Mediation, in the context of radical self care, is a practice where individuals intentionally set aside time for quiet reflection, mindfulness, or inner peace.
I know meditation can be really hard, especially if you have a busy schedule and you don’t have the time just to sit and essentially do nothing, but practicing meditation does not have to look like a tampon ad or have to last all day, the only thing that matters is how it makes you feel. Now the next thing I’m gonna say is gonna sound crazy… but I’ve been sworn under the grrrl code oath to keep it one hundred percent real with you. The most underrated place to meditate is the bathroom, because you literally have to go every day, sometimes multiple times a day if you’re a big fan of cheese. The point is, spending time in the bathroom is something that we have been doing all of our lives to the point that our brains are on autopilot while we are in there, which is exactly the state of mind you need to be in to meditate! Also, it’s therapeutic AF!! Use that private time to yourself to think about all of the things that make you feel your greatest while you’re actively caring for yourself and let all the negativity and pessimism the world tries to bog you down with go right down the drain. Trust me, it’s a win-win, just don’t let the tub overflow unless you’re a really good swimmer!
Noting The Difference
Now grrrls, im not gonna lie this part can be a lil… awkward, but after you come down from your meditative high you’re probably gonna look around and realize there’s at least one difference between the version of yourself that “has it all” and the version of yourself that you currently are. That’s okay! Don’t feel overwhelmed by the differences because you are currently on the journey to receiving all of it and more. If the greatest and highest version of yourself is a celebrity make-up artist, then take note of the differences between where you are now and what needs to change in order for you to get there, and remember that starting small is still progress. Buy the makeup brushes you’ve been saving in your cart, start posting your seriously fierce eye shadow looks online, go back to beauty school grrrl! You’re one credit shy from your big shot! Achieving these small differences can also be used as markers of your own progress. For example, when you feel like a failure because you double booked Zendaya and Keke Palmer for the Oscars after party, you’ll remember when the only thing you had to your name was a beauty blender and a dream, which will motivate you to keep going. It may feel like it will never happen, but everyone knows these things only happen overnight if you kiss a frog. My suggestion? If you’re feeling froggy make leaps in your radical self-care journey because you are almost there princess!
Get It Grrrl!
Now that you have become aware of the differences, think of them as steps to achieving your greatest and highest self. This step may require some more *cough* *cough* brutal honesty, but that’s okay because you’re a real one! Sometimes you have to get out of your feelings to get to your bag! Think of this as science, where all you have to do is solve for X. A lil sprinke of sugar, a lil dash of spice, an “accidental” drop of chemical x and BOOM! Your dreams are alive!! All jokes aside, I want to give you a real life example of what this could look like. So let’s say when you were brushing your teeth, you had a day dream that your greatest and highest good was becoming the owner of a French bistro and it was soo real you could practically smell the croissants in the air. The notable differences between where you are now is that you don’t speak French, the only thing you know how to make is PB à la J, and owning a restaurant is out of the question because you’re barely making rent. Don’t. Give. Up. Go get it grrrl! Some realistic next steps for you might be watching foreign films with the subtitles on, going full Julie and Julia and trying new recipes from a French cookbook online, or bookmarking affordable commercial real estate spaces. Yea you aren’t in the position to rent it right away, but this will give you an idea of how much money you need to start saving up to get it. None of these steps will make the bistro appear overnight, but it gives you some direction on where to go and how to make progress. In the mean time, start curating menu ideas, finding decor inspo, and acting like you already live that dream lifestyle because eventually you will.
Grrls, we are the designers of our own realities. Really let that sink in, because it’s absolutely true. You have the power to do anything that you want to do and the power to attract everything that makes you feel happy, healthy, and whole. While you are going on your radical self care journey it is important to remember to be kind to yourself. It is really easy to feel disappointed by the glaring differences between where you want to go and where you currently are, but the present version of yourself is the grrrl that is going to get you to where you want to go and the past version of yourself is the grrrl that got you to where you are. *Mic drop* Hold up, I got more to say!! *Picks mic back up* There is an immense amount of pressure to have all of the things, live the perfect life, and look completely airbrushed while doing it. Try your best to ignore the pressure and stay focused on creating a life that feels good to YOU. This journey is a very unique and personal experience that looks like whatever you want it to look like. Do it for YOU. I know that you can do it, now go and be great you lil grrrly pop!
