#HEYGRRRLFRENNNS Idk if it is just me but something feels different these days! This summer feels sweet, and light, and airy just like cotton candy! Excusé moi to all my dark humor grrrlies that that just gagged at that reference… but lately I have been feeling a little flowery, which I’m actually not mad about! Over the past few weeks, I’ve found myself feeling warmer and feeling more alive. I have quite literally spent my summer enjoying the little things that make me feel like a little floating piece of dandelion in the wind, which feels amazing by the way. I’m gone with the wind fabulous! I’ve been prioritizing watching the clouds, smelling the flowers, and honestly just trying to practice being more present and more grateful. I hope you have all had the opportunity to have a summer that makes you feel nothing short of stellar and if you haven’t had the opportunity to shine just yet, this is your sign to start a fling, catch a flight, or just feel free to have fun being you!
I want to continue with the “grrrls just wanna have fun” theme we have set for our topics this summer and play a lil game of hypotheticals. For example, What would you do if you randomly came into an insane amount of money? I’m talking stupid rich status! For ethical reasons, let’s assume that you have already donated to all of your favorite charities, paid off your debt, taken care of your friends and family, and even put a significant amount into your savings account. This week, I want our grrrl talk to be all about the Benjamins baby! We’ve discussed radical self-care tips for the sleepy grrrl, the busy grrrl, and the grrrl on a budget, so now just for funsies, I want to discuss some ideas for the rich grrrls. Since I’m contractually obligated to keep it real, I would like to put out the disclaimer that money can’t buy you happiness… but it could probably cheer you up a little! So even though I am not currently rich, I’m willing to share a few ideas on how I would spend my hypothetical fortune.
Gotta Getaway
Literally the first thing I’m doing is leaving America. Sorry Lady Liberty, but If you know me, you know my dream is to travel the world. The idea of seeing the sights, learning new cultures, and every day being a new adventure makes my lil Sagittarius heart skip a beat or ten. The only thing stopping me from attempting to travel around the world in 80 days is that having the travel bug is pretty expensive, but I will not give up hope. I have literally been brushing up on my Duolingo for the past two years on the off chance that I hit the lottery. Big money! Big money! Hypothetically, if money weren’t an issue, I would buy a private island and be one with nature. Now typically, I am not an outdoorsy grrrl, but typically I have never had access to an infinite amount of money, so I think with a few minor tweaks, I could survive. First, we would have to do something about the bugs; I have a zero-tolerance policy for AAFOs (absolutely annoying flying objects). I’m also going to need some sort of seating arrangement, some manufactured shade, access to a nearby clean bathroom, a bev, some food, a table for the food, ice for the bev, a platform to separate me from the sand, some sort of breeze that isn’t too windy, music of course, ooh! a cute hat!, and oh yes the perfect view of the ocean, and maybe a private show?? I know that this seems like a lot but it’s nothing that money can’t buy!
The Ahhh In Spa
Skin and body care have become a big deal for me. When I was starting out my skincare routine was pretty basic, but now it has become a full-on ritual! There is something soothing about treating your skin and body with care. We put our bodies through so much, sometimes even more than we realize. When you actively take care of your body and your skin it feels like a big thank you hug from you to you. I mean if you think about it, It really is a magical feat that we are able to even move our feet! Blink our eyes! Use our brains! Like I am thinking about what to talk to you guys about, and my brain is telling my fingers to type the words, and then your brain is reading the words and telling your heart to love it. Radicaaaaaal! Now THAT is something to celebrate and show gratefulness for. As much as I love skin and body care sometimes I feel too busy or tired to go as hard as I would like to go which creates inconsistencies in my routine, but in this scenario, I have a bunch of bucks and as we all know, time is money! My extra lavish spa day experience definitely has to include some sort of massage. The way my anxiety is set up, my nervous system is about as tangled as a ball of yarn, so I’m gonna need some TLC ASAP B4 I RIP you feel me? I’m a little hesitant to try one of those really cool treatments like a mud bath, or a hot stone, or a seaweed wrap, because I have sensory issues. I feel like the mess and textures would make me feel overstimulated. Like one time I tried to make rice crispy treats without gloves and it was torture! I literally haven’t touched a marshmallow since.
Gimme Da Loot
I have seen too many chick flicks to let the opportunity for an all-expense paid shopping trip slip through my hypothetically freshly manicured fingers! I don’t want to over exaggerate, but my one true love in life is literally shopping. I love clothes shopping, online shopping, decor shopping, and even grocery shopping! Right now, I keep my love for shopping at bay by simply window shopping, but I can finally feel confident and financially secure clearing my cart in this scenario. I think the coolest thing that you can buy is ice. Bling Bling Blinggg! Just kidding, jewelry is a grrrls best friend, but if I had all the money in the world I would actually use it to buy all of the experiences off of my bucket list. I would go sky-diving, swimming with sharks, speed racing cars, riding in hot air balloons, and other exciting activities that only money can buy. I love accessorizing as much as the next grrrl, but when I am old (never gray because I am going to get a very nice wig with my hypothetical money) I want to watch my memory chip recordings and remember all of the good times that I was fortunate enough to experience. As I am writing this and thinking about how beautiful that sounded I am also thinking “Well… if I really had an unlimited amount of money why would I have to choose?” And I am absolutely right! So, I am making an official mandate to let the good times roll and the bling keep shining!! As a hypothetical rich grrrl, I am well within my right to have fun and look fabulous doing it.
Every week, we discuss living life on your own terms, and while it was fun to think about what that would look like with a bigger budget, I want to remind you grrrls that prioritizing your pleasure can happen for free! Radical self-care can be practiced for free! You can enjoy your own company and your summer for free! Whether you are in the mood to save or splurge, you can still find ways to move forward with your radical self-care journey. You deserve to show yourself care and enjoy the time you spend simply existing. Life is hard enough without us trying to be too hard on ourselves or living under imaginary rules that put pressure on being perfect. Sometimes, it’s okay to be silly, find more time for fun, or be a hypothetical millionaire! Push yourself to try new things and remain open to new opportunities trying to enter your life. Listen to your body, and give it what it needs, and enjoy the time you are spending building a happier and healthier relationship with yourself. It’s okay to treat yourself and put yourself first mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally. I know you can do it! Now go and be great you lil grrrly pop! TTYL!
