#HEYGRRRLFRENNNS We are sooo beating those inconsistent allegations!! It has officially been SIX MONTHS of restarting our radical self-care journey together and even though it has felt short, we’ve been on this incredible radical self-care journey together for half of a year now! Before we get into the tea, I just have to take a moment to give us all our props! Whether you’ve been a real one since day one or just joined the grrrl gang, every step you’ve taken to prioritize yourself is worth celebrating. Today, I want to dive into some advice that I am trying to apply to my own life, which is the importance of celebrating yourself and your progress. This entire summer has been filled with soo many first memories for me, soo many memorable milestones for us together, and I just feel it in my bones that this is just the beginning of something much bigger for all the grrrls! Raaaadicaaaal! BUT because I am contractually obligated to try my best to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth, I also want to make space to acknowledge the not so great moments that have made the super star standout moments shine just a little bit brighter.
Lately, I have been feeling burnt out to the tenth degree. I think this is mostly because things have been going so well that I feel extremely motivated to keep the good times rolling! There is nothing wrong with being ambitious; in fact, it’s one of the things that I love most about myself, but I can’t continue to reach my greatest and highest good if I’m cooking my brain like it’s a quarter pounder with cheese every single day. Would you like fries with that? If I am feeling this way, I know my grrrls are too! Life can get busy and chaotic, and even when that is because of super awesome things it’s easy to put yourself last on the list and it’s even easier to do when you are soo hyper focused on achieving a certain outcome that you forget to remember to stop and smell the roses on your way to your goals. So this week, let’s dive into some tips on how to celebrate your progress and feel absolutely fabulous doing it. Because, let’s be real, you are worth all the hype!
Talk That Sweet Talk
I hate to start the grrrl talk with brutal honesty, but there really is no way to sugarcoat this. Well, maybe we can do something like a good news “bad” news situation? The “bad” news is that it is nobody else’s job to make sure you’re happy or to make sure you are fulfilled; it is completely up to you. I know that is kinda a bummer, but think about it! You can have all of your friends, your family, your summer boo thang, and your nail tech gas you up, but if you don’t believe in what they are saying, it will be harder to use it as motivation to keep going. After a certain age, we have to make a conscious decision to learn to heal, to protect ourselves, and be our own best cheerleader. Go, Fight, Win Grrrl! The really good news is that you have already decided to do this! We have been on our radical self-care journey together for six months now!! We’ve been finding realistic ways to push the boundaries on our comfort zones and to live more authentically, and affirmations are only going to make the process a lot more fun. Positive affirmations are a fantastic way to boost your confidence and celebrate yourself. Start your day with affirmations that resonate with you and reflect your journey. Phrases like “I am proud of my progress,” “I celebrate my achievements,” and “I really am that grrrl” can set a positive tone for your day and reinforce your self-worth. It’s easy to be your harshest critic, but self-compassion is key to a healthy and happy self-celebration journey. Acknowledge that growth takes time and that it’s okay to have setbacks. What matters most is that you continue to move forward, even if the progress feels slow.
Treat Yo Selffffff!
There will never be an instance where I tell you not to treat yourself, which may be a little problematic or spontaneous and cool, depending on your perspective. I say this because I know that none of us will go crazy with it and will practice the power of discernment. Also, treating yourself doesn’t always mean spending all of your money away! If you know you need to penny pinch, saving your dollars by having a DIY self-care moment might make more cents! Plus sometimes, it’s the little things make the biggest impact. Treating yourself to something special, “just because” is pretty much a guaranteed way to keep a smile on your face at all times and celebrate the small wins. This could mean drawing a relaxing bath with your favorite essential oils, a solo movie night with yummy snacks, or trying that cool hobby you’ve been putting off for literally no good reason. The key is to indulge in activities that bring you joy and make you feel the most appreciated. Treating yourself can also look like just remembering to give yourself time and space to exist. Party of one? I know that it sounds super type A, like in the movies when the uptight boss lady puts a reminder to have fun for once, but with the risk of sounding too radical… maybe she’s on to something. We have soo many things to remember to do every day for others, our jobs, school, I hear even pets can get a little pushy every now and then. If you are constantly juggling the obligation of caring for others sometimes the best gift that you can give yourself is space to enjoy being alone!
Stick To The Plan
Why not make celebrating yourself a regular thing? Plan out a fun and meaningful ritual that you can look forward to and think of it as a new tradition to commemorate your growth. This piece of advice comes as a surprise to me because I am self-admittedly a little bit of a hot mess with little to no structure for my personal life, but there was a point in time that I did have routine and I kinda wanna get back to that because it felt AMAZING. Having a dedicated time to celebrate your achievements helps you stay connected to your progress and and gives you the opportunity to blow off a little steam along the way. Set a realistic reoccurring time to celebrate yourself that works best for your needs and your schedule. It could be hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, all of the above, dealer’s choice, a mix and match, or a winner take all! The possibilities are truly endless! The goal is to create a space where you can relax and focus on your well-being. By scheduling this time to celebrate yourself, you’re reminding yourself that you are worth the time and effort, and you’re giving yourself something to look forward to regularly. Oooh!! You could even get creative with it and do a vision board of ideas that you want to try out to help you get more excited about making celebrating yourself and your achievements a staple part of your routine. This could also be a great way to set the stage for future success. If I knew that every single time I did something right I would get a reward for it, I would probably still make mistakes because no one is perfect, but I would have a lot more motivation to keep trying my best!
Remember grrrls, your self-celebration rituals should be enjoyable, not stressful. Stay flexible and adapt your plans as needed. Life can be unpredictable, and it’s okay to change things up if necessary. The important thing is to prioritize yourself and make time for these moments of celebration, no matter how they evolve. By creating regular rituals to celebrate yourself, you’re not only acknowledging your achievements but also reinforcing the importance of radical self-care. These rituals will serve as constant reminders that you are deserving of pleasure, recognition, and celebration. So let the good times roll, make celebrating yourself a regular thing, and watch how it transforms your outlook and enriches your life. I am soo proud of all of us for being soo consistent! Change and possibility have been in the air all summer and we owe it to ourselves to experience it to the fullest. Now go and be great you lil grrrly pop! TTYL!
